Mobius was created as a simple way to connect the disconnects. To make it easier to reach the outcome, and have fun at the same time.

Everything you see today emerged from the need to make it easier to get to the outcomes. I designed a set of method cards to help my teams at a San Francisco startup create workshops on the fly. They were so popular, I had to keep printing more, spending hours cutting them out at night.

The Mobius Maps started their life in the innovation group at Yahoo! back in 2005. I replaced long winded product plans with one-page posters. You could see what was going on as soon as you walked in the room.

The workshop kits you see today were inspired by my trips to Japan. Instead of sandwiches wrapped in plastic, they have beautiful Bento boxes, with the food elegantly laid out.

Where we are now
Since the early experiments, Mobius has grown into a global movement. At its heart is a passionate group of coaches who run workshops worldwide to help organizations. We have diverse companies using it, from aerospace to social impact, finance to government, and everything in between.

We have kept our open-source ethos, making the core navigator and maps completely free. We have also kept our prices deliberately low to make it easy for people without access to a big company bank account to get access. I know, it’s a funny way to run a business, but our outcomes go beyond money. We believe in what we do, and that being outcome driven creates better, more sustainable organizations, so we want to remove the barriers to make that possible.
